Did you ever see our City look so clean? I haven't and my area it took one week of not making false threats and actually towing the cars left on the street and since then, it is always completely empty when the sweeper comes down the street.
Thank you Mayor DiMaria.

If I remember correctly, there were so many complaints about cars being towed after the sweeper that the police were told to tag & tow before the sweeper and move on. I feel your pain but I don't think you'll win this one.

It all depends on who you are. Even the street sweeping has become political. Not all cars get towed, and people that pay attention know it.

I have pictures of a car park on lewis street10/6/09 on street cleaning day ( on that side) .. i have pictures of the sweeper going around the car.. I called city hall who told me to call the police ...who transferred me 3x to a voice mail with just a beep... no message.. I saw these people park there after the tow truck and police left.. this is not the first time they done it.. I did call the police at 11 am on 10/6( street cleaning is til noon) no one came.. They didnt care to come.. I know if it was my car I would have got a ticket or a tow... I am frustrated.. can anyone do anything about this....
these lovely neighbors do this all the time and they are the same neighbors who steal your spot after you spend hours shovelling. Can I send these pictures to anyone .. please e mail ungowa30@yahoo.com.. sneaky people should be stopped

Ahh, The infamous Devens School... that was so strangely rubber stamped. Once construction begins, do watch and see who gets awarded contracts....

I drove by the old Devens School today. Has anyone seen what a mess the grounds are out front and down the side of Devens Steet? The city still owns that building, right? Then I went into the municipal parking lot from Devens Street and there is a huge pot hole right at the driveway entrance. That really needs to be repaired before someone ends up with a flat.

Is it just me? Is it still necessary for the police to come around and accounce street sweeping for the whole 8 months? If you don't know by now, then you deserve to be towed. About the cleaning around the Walgreens area: If you lived around there as I do, you would be disturbed by the private sweeper at least 4-5 times a week, at midnight, 1,2 or 3 AM, making alot of noise. It is extremely aggravating because they have one guy with a blower walking around the building blowing everything out to the street, then the sweeper going around and through the parking lot. at 2:00 am it usually wakes me up and continues for 30 minutes or so. I have given up after numerous attempts, even though they are not supposed to do it until after 7:00 am.

I thought that the mayor wanted all constiuent issues handled thru his office? If so, what's Ranieri doing?

From what I heard last night then, it's not a stretch to assume that Barry Doyle will be back on the payroll too even though his position was eliminated from the budget also. These issues will have to be addressed by the administration at some point, i.e., when the money in the line items dry up later in the fiscal year.

I'm not sure, probably the same way they are keeping the personnel director on,his position was written out of the budget also, but he is still there.
massdee Posted - 11/11/2008 : 1:34:10 PM
Wasn't his position removed from the budget? If that is true, how are we paying him?
italianmoe Posted - 11/11/2008 : 1:26:17 PM
He never missed a day. They kept him on
Tails Posted - 11/11/2008 : 1:23:20 PM
I don't beleive that to be the information we received, unless he was re-hired.

Anthony Ranieri still works for City Services. He was never let go
tetris Posted - 11/10/2008 : 11:37:18 PM
On my street, the police came by twice today, once around 8 AM and once again around 9:00-9:15. Everybody had moved by then on their own. The sweeper never showed up until around noon time. I'm assuming mechanical problems. Not a great situation but at least it is better than two weeks ago when we never got swept. One of my neighbors submitted a complaint about that thru the city web site and never heard anything about it other than an automated e-mail response from the system. It's was kind of funny too because it had Anthony Ranieri's name on it. Too bad his position in City Services was eliminated at the end of FY 2008. I wonder if he realizes that the city is still using his name like that?
massdee Posted - 11/10/2008 : 6:19:16 PM
Today is my street sweeping day. The police came by this morning telling people not to park on the even side of the street. I saw a car get towed, and the sweeper never came by.

GTA is no longer doing it.

They should not have done it in the first place, emergency only. I still would like to see the bid for that.

The cities sweepers did my street last week and I don't think they put the broom down far enough. They went over the sewer and the sweeper never swept up the debris. It was still there blocking the sewer.
