One can only hope every penny is accounted for and necessary.

I wonder if he's given any thought to how selfish he looks with a full office of overpaid employees while he's sending others to the unemployment office!

I agree with this 1000%.

Yes, Navarra works full time at the post office and his cousin is a full time secretary. Then you have the other woman that can barely speak english, that came from code enforcement, Jaime Russo, another guy, and Michael Buckley. There is at least five, if not more.

The way that it has worked in prior budget deliberations is that the City Council doesn't touch the Mayor's budget and the Mayor doesn't touch theirs. Nothing formal though, just a "Gentleman's" agreement.

So, someone who is earning a weeks pay from the Post Office is still working part time in the mayor's office. It doesn't seem right to me. People who depend on one salary are losing their jobs at city hall and at least one part time employee with a full time job stays on at city hall. As a taxpayer, I would prefer paying for the clerical help to stay at city hall.

I was told one of them (Jerry?) works full time at the post office. I don't know about the other.

I am pretty sure you are right. Your post jogged my memory to past budget hearings. It's too bad Carlo didn't eliminate those positions on his own. It has been said that those part time employees also have full time jobs, elsewhere. Do you know if that is true?

I don't think so. If I remember correctly, they can't actually eliminate any positions. They can decrease funding for a department but that wouldn't necessarily guarantee a position would be eliminated. That decision would be up to the department head and/or the mayor.

I don't think cutting funding to Carlo's office will do anything more than p*ss him off...........

During the budget hearings, can the members cut those part time positions in the mayors office?

I think their salaries may be high enough to have saved three or four positions! It really is a sad situation........

It's really too bad Carlo & the unions weren't able to work things out. Nine people from the clerical union will be unemployed when they walk out the door Friday.

Morale has been pretty bad at city hall for awhile............ Can you imagine how low it will be on Monday?
