In today's Everett Independent there is an article titled:
Mayor Confronts Allegations.
Let us first state that this newspaper stating the our website was
created to "smear Mayor DeMaria" is false. The Mayor does a great job
on his own smearing himself. This website states facts using meetings
and the Mayor's own campaign media not to mention official City of
Everett records.

In this article the Mayor admits to using his office phone number in the
calls. Which is a violation of State Ethics laws because his office staff is
using public paid time to answer calls generated from a political
advertisement, and this article also states the fact that the Mayor's
Office is taking calls regarding this pamphlet.

Thank You for placing this article in your paper.
We'll forward it on to the State Ethics Commission.
Your Tax Dollars Hard at Work?
April 21, 2009 is the first day to pull papers to run for Office!
The Fleecing of Everett
While several Police, Fire and City Workers
wait to see the fate of their jobs due to pending
layoffs.
The Mayor continues to waste money.

* Sell the Old City Yards to his friend for 3.4 million less then
what it was worth!
* His office staff stilling making $699.60 per week part time!
* Brian Zaniboni purchased a new Ford Explorer and takes this
home everyday to Middleton and fuels up at the City Yards!
* Spending thousands of taxpayer dollars on Sweetzer Circle
(State Property)!
* Giving raises to the City Solicitors Lawyers after telling BOA
there would be no raises!
* Paying his friends from GTA Landscaping hundreds of
thousands of dollars for work around the City that should have
gone out to bid or been completed by a someone on the State
Contractors List.

MAYOR DEMARIA'S WOOD WASTE DEAL
AND WHY IT HAPPENED!
Layoffs?
When the list of who is getting laid off comes out remember about
those people the Mayor has already fired!
Those people did not contribute to his campaign.

These people DID donate after the Mayor won.

Cheryl D'Andrea - $1,100.00
Phil Genualdo - $450.00
William Hart - $750.00
Matt/Claire Laidlaw - $500.00

The Citizen's site has been recently updated:

It's odd that their salaries are exact to the penny.

WE HAD TO GO THROUGH THE SECRETARY OF STATES OFFICE FOR THIS
INFORMATION. THE NEW PERSONNEL DIRECTOR TRIED STALLING AS LONG AS HE
COULD THAT IS WHY THESE ARE FROM DECEMBER.

Gary Jones is the IT director. Since he's a one man department, I don't see what's the big deal is with the Mayor signing off on his time each week? I'd be pretty certain that his salary is charged to the right line item in the budget. If annualized, his salary is slightly under budget. So, no real surprise there.

If you subtract Mr Jones' salary, the salaries paid in the mayor's office, if annualized, also come in under budget. A little harder to tell there though because some employees are paid for the hours they work; one week's data may not be enough to confirm that but it appears to be OK.

If you follow the budget, the real new information provided by that post is detail of what is paid out in salaries by ECTV. That usually isn't included in the budget because it's a grant funded department. In FY09, we did get a total for ECTV's salary line item in Mr. Carlisle's confusing budget document; but that was before Mr. Laidlaw was hired. It would be interesting to see something similar for Community Development, which is also grant funded, but after their recent hire(s?). Also new is how much of the money that was budgeted for the Chief of Staff position Melissa Murphy received.

Who is Gary Jones and where did he come from?

http://citizensforeverettma.com/

TAXPAYER ALERT!

Mayor's Office Weekly Salaries
$6,379.54

Mayor DeMaria pads his friends pockets again.
With 2 Chiefs of Staff at $1,443.08 a week per person?

We knew Melissa Murphy was his Chief of Staff but who is
Gary Jones?

And with Matt Laidlaw as "Director of Communications" in the
Mayor's Office while being paid out of the ECTV Budget at a nice
salary of $66,083.16.

That site has been around for a while. I enjoy reading it. It certainly helps you remember the Everett of old.

That's a fairly well-done, non-controversial, feel good web site. I doubt that you'll find many of the other current Everett blogs or message boards mentioned on ECTV, at least in any type of favorable light.

I believe when the citizens requested last nights meeting be televised they were told it wouldn't happen. It took place after the good Alderman's request. If the request was made because we the folks encouraged it, then good for him for listening.
