Yesterday Chief Mazzie got his brand spanking new 2010 Ford Explorer take home car compliments of the City of Everett...(to replace his current sedan which is 2 years old)
Why the un-necessary extravagance while his officers are being demoted and layed-off??? Whats wrong with this picture??

Its a combination of things but mostly the impending layoffs and demotions.
There are also two brass in their 60's that can retire right now with full pension, benefits and bonuses and by doing so can save some jobs but they refuse to.
There have been many viable alternatives brought to the chief to make up for the shortfall but he refuses to consider them. The general consensus is that he wants to demote all the captains so he can get his non-union deputy chief which he has tried to do in the past but got shot down. Once the captains are out of the way he can do it.
The problem is; by demoting the captains it will mean demotions in all of the ranks, eventually leading to layoffs in patrol.

| yes I agree brass can go now but they are not going to, with that being said, what about the dog officer? now there is a wasted job, that job should be cut in half union or not union Carlo is trying to bust the union and the people are so stupid, he said at the c.c. meeting he has a great repore with the fire fighters union and the business agent sent him flowers what at taxpayers expensive? I feel a change coming, being a demaria supporter two years ago I will rethink who I vote for this year in all elections |

More great news today.. Demotions will be July 1st but Mazzie gets a raise! His salary is going from $122K to $137K p/year....
What is wrong with this city??? How can they justify raises when people are losing their jobs and taking pay cuts?
Pathetic.. Everett City government should be ashamed of themselves but they are too stupid and ignorant to be ashamed. |

Okay, we all know the city needs money and that there's plenty of revenue in parking tickets. We also know the night parking enforcement people can only write tickets for resident sticker violations because the police union won't allow them to do anything else claiming they're taking the work away from the police.
So, why is it that the large yellow Penske rig, Rhode Island plate #23464, parked on Malden St all weekend never gets tagged? It's there every weekend. There's an ordinance that says you can't park a vehicle with six wheels or more from 11:30 pm to 8:00 am. I have a neighbor with a pick up truck that has the double wheels on the back and he can't park it on the street and they won't give him a sticker but it's okay for whoever owns/operates the big rig to do it?
It's time our police gave it up and let the parking guys do the job. We need the revenue and the police have already proven they can't be bothered. |
